BORUN
RESIDENCE
In this project a client generated idea of bamboo was inspired by a
watercolor drawing that Sharon had happened to have done on site in the
rain forests of Costa Rica. Created
with the copper foil method the window utilizes almost entirely Chicago
Art Glass and uses the opalescent swirls of this type of stained glass
to a painterly effect. A tree branch weaves through vertical panels and
relates to an antique carved Chinese screen in close proximity. The
scale of the three panels truly creates the feeling of being surrounded
by the tranquility of a stand of bamboo deep in the jungle. This adds a
fertile and calming bit of nature to a downtown residence that abounds
with magnificent urban views from every other window.
